Bipolar Disorder

Medical Insurance & Bipolar Disorder

    • Before being hired, I discussed medical issues, including my bipolar disorder and my need for medical insurance. The director gave me the impression that medical benefits would be given quickly. ( I had other medical concerns at the time as well).
    • On January 17, 2007 the assistant executive director specifically gave normal employee benefits to me (here). [I was working at least 56 hours a week, every week, from that point until I quit in June.]
    • The Residential Director soon took them away, using an odd form (click here).
  • Supervisors who called in sick regularly, and averaged about 35 hours a week, got full benefits. I was denied even basic medical benefits.
